MUNCIE, Ind. -- In a final tuneup before the Mid-American Conference Championships, May 2-4 at Zionsville's Holliday Farms Golf Club, Ball State's men's golf team ventures south to Bloomington this weekend to take part in the Hoosier Collegiate Invitational. The Cardinals will compete with 15 programs, heavy with a Big Ten flavor featuring host Indiana plus Illinois, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Northwestern, Purdue, Ohio State, Rutgers and Wisconsin. Participating MAC schools are Northern Illinois and Toledo. Others include Kansas and Little Rock.

The Cardinals take the course on Saturday morning to compete in two rounds of 18 holes which launch in a shotgun start beginning at 8:45 a.m. The final round takes place Sunday.

Ball State competes for the fifth straight week before a short break to regroup for the upcoming league championship. Leading the Ball State lineup at IU is freshman Samuel Harris and playing in the No. 2 spot is sophomore and Bloomington native Happy Gilmore. No. 3 in the Cardinals lineup is Avery Mahoney, followed in order by Aidan Gutierrez and Gavin Hare. Senior Carter Smith competes this weekend as an individual competitor.
