Former IHSAA state champion Aidan Gutierrez begins his second year with the Ball State golf program, following a freshman year at Baylor.
Said head coach Mike Fleck upon his signing: "Aidan came here as a transfer from Baylor and had great success as a junior. He's a hard worker and an awesome young man. I think as he continues to get his footing under him and get more comfortable, we're going to see more and more good stuff from Aidan. When his good is good, it's really good. He's a super talented young man that I expect will push his way up the roster and challenge guys ahead of him."
2025-26 (So.): Appeared in nine tournaments ... over 26 rounds, Gutierrez fired a 76.00 average overall, with a 74.36 average through five fall events ... best finish was a fifth-place finish (70-71-69---210, E) at the Put Me In Coach Invitational at Delaware Country Club, with all three rounds at +1 or better, and his best round of the year ... best 54-hole score was an even-par 210 at the Put Me In Coach Invitational ... best spring tournament was a 224 (+14) at the Don Benbow Invitational where he carded 76-74-74 ... finished 35th at the 2026 MAC Championships (81-78-78---237).
2024-25 (Fr.): Gutierrez attended Baylor University where he averaged 76.00 over 15 competitive rounds ... fired a low round of 68 and landed his best finish at the Minnesota Golf Classic (71-76-74—221) where he tied for 24th place out of 106 golfers.
HIGH SCHOOL: The 2022 IHSAA state champion while representing Valparaiso High School, Gutierrez earned top-five finishes at the IHSAA state finals three times ... finished tied for second at the IHSAA state championship as a senior in 2024, and carded a solo fifth-place finish in the 2023 IHSAA state finals on the strength of an opening-round 67 ... as a sophomore, he captured the 2022 IHSAA title with a final-round 67 to get into a playoff, which he won with a birdie on the third playoff hole ... tied for 29th at the prestigious Pete and Alice Dye Junior Invitational in 2023.
