Gavin Hare Leads Cardinals on Final Day of Don Benbow Invitational

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Leading four Ball State individuals Tuesday in the final round of the Don Benbow Invitational, sophomore Gavin Hare shot his best round of the tournament to finish the third round at 3-over par 73.

Hare (75-74-73--222) rose steadily from a first-round 75 on Monday morning. He shot 74 in round two, and finished at 73 in his final trip around the par-70, 6,687-yard track at Highland Golf and Country Club.

Among Cardinals teammates, Hare finished behind Happy Gilmore (72-72-75--219) who led Ball State in both opening rounds Monday, and shot 5-over on Tuesday. Aidan Gutierrez (76-74-74--224) and Carter Smith (76-76-74--226) completed the Cardinals scorecard in the annual event hosted by Butler University.

Ball State has a busy week while departing on Wednesday with a full lineup destined for Nashville and Vanderbilt University. Head coach Mike Fleck leads Ball State into the Mason Rudolph Championship at Vanderbilt Legends Golf Club, with tournament play scheduled for Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
