April 04, 2026 | Men's Golf
FRANKLIN, Tenn. -- Avery Mahoney was under par on the front nine Saturday at Vanderbilt Legends Club, and Happy Gilmore eagled the 18th hole to finish strong, as both wrapped up the second day of competition at the Mason Rudolph Championship with Ball State's low round of 5-under-par 76.
While freshman Luke Johnston and Samuel Harris paced the Cardinals in Friday's opening round with a pair of rounds at 2-over par 73, it was the sophomore Gilmore and junior Mahoney who shared Ball State's low round in Saturday's round two. The third and final round is scheduled for Sunday morning.
Mahoney shot part on his first five holes Saturday, before firing eagle on the par-5 sixth hole. His 1-under par 34 on the first nine holes Saturday was Ball State's best score on the front or back nine over the tournament's first two rounds. Gilmore, meanwhile, was 2-over on the front nine and 3-over on the back nine. He recovered from a double-bogey on the par-4 15th hole and finished with eagle to tie Mahoney with the team's best round.
Sunday's final round begins at 9 a.m., Sunday, on the par-71 course hosted by Vanderbilt University. Team standings through two rounds are led by top-ranked Auburn, followed by No. 12 Tennessee and No. 11 Vanderbilt.
