MUNCIE, Ind. - - The Ball State golf programs closed play in the Golfweek Put Me In Coach Invitational at the Delaware Country Club Tuesday, with all six individual competitors earning top seven finishes on their respective leaderboards.
On the women's side sophomore Skylar Dean ended the 54-hole event just like she started Monday, posting her third eagle of the season. This one came on the par 5, 437-yard 18th and helped her turn in the team's lowest round of the day at +1 (73).
After a tough start to her final round on the women's par 72, 6,030-yard course layout Tuesday, Dean caught fire on her final trip into the clubhouse, finishing birdie, birdie, eagle. Dean was the only women's golfer in the field of 14 to write down multiple eagles in the event and finished fourth overall at +5 (221).
Senior Jenna Estravillo finished two strokes behind her teammate, at +7 (223), as she birdied two of her final five holes, including the 18th. Estravillo's two birdies in the final nine holes led to a final round of +3 (75) and nine total birdies, tied for the most birdies by a Ball State player.
Rounding out the day for Ball State was senior JJ Gregston at +11 (227). Gregston's +4 (76) final round was highlighted by three birdies of her own and helped her earn a seventh-place finish. Gregston birdied the par 5 first, the par-4 third, and the par-4 17th to tally nine total birdies, which tied for the team lead with Estravillo.
