League champion will be determined at Naperville Country Club
The Ball State women's golf team heads to Illinois this weekend for the Mid-American Conference Championships at Naperville Country Club.
The action begins Friday and features 54 holes over the next three days to determine the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Championships. The Cardinals' opening-round tee times start Friday at 11:40 a.m. CT (12:40 p.m. ET). Live scoring is available at golfstat.com.
Sophomore Manon Tounalom has been Ball State's top performer this year with a 76.61 scoring average and a trio of top-10 finishes. She has led the Cardinals eight times in 10 stroke play tournaments.
Freshman Liz Kim has come on strong down the stretch. She has finished among the top 35 in each of the past four events and is coming off a season-best tie for 13th place at Purdue's Lady Boilermaker Classic. Her 77.38 stroke average this spring is second to only Tounalom.
Another freshman, Emily Knouff, occupies the third spot in the youthful Ball State lineup. She has provided a steady presence for the Cardinals in her rookie year and has competed as part of the lineup in every event this spring.
The young guns are joined in the lineup by a pair of veterans in junior Sydney Anderson and senior Morgan Nadaline, both of whom will be competing at the MAC Championships for the third straight year. Nadaline had a top-15 finish two years ago when the event was held at Purgatory Golf Club in Noblesville.
Ball State is looking to improve on a tie for seventh place at last season's championships. Kent State is once again the defending champion, having won all 19 times the event has been contested. The Golden Flashes' Michaela Finn returns as the individual medalist.
Ball State has twice finished as the MAC runner-up (2010 and 2012) and has twice boasted the individual league champion (Katie Sundberg in 2005 and Jenna Hague in 2012).
