After a dominating weekend both at the plate and in the circle for the Ball State softball team at the Cardinal Classic hosted by Louisville, Ball State senior pitcher / designated player Ella Whitney has been named the Pridemark Construction Student-Athlete of the Week.
Not only did she lead the Cardinals offense with 12 RBIs and three home runs over the five-game tournament, but she also racked up a 2-0 record and 1.85 ERA in the circle. Whintey earned pitching wins over both Louisville, which received votes in the latest ESPN.com/USA Softball Top 25 Poll, and Illinois to help Ball State fly the #MACtion flag twice on the weekend. Overall, she finished the tournament with a .471 batting average and four runs score, while also diving in what proved to be the game-winning run versus Bellarmine with her second grand slam of the season.
