For her role in leading the women’s basketball team to a 2-0 record last week, power forward Tessa Towers has been named the Pridemark Construction Student-Athlete of the Week.
Towers opened the week with a career-best 22 points in the New Year’s Eve 102-73 victory at Akron, while adding 13 rebounds for her sixth double-double of the season. She followed with a team-high 17 points and nine rebounds in Saturday’s 74-56 victory at NIU.
For the week, Towers averaged 19.5 points per game and 11.0 rebounds while shooting 65 percent (19-29) from the floor. Towers has helped the Cardinals start MAC play with a 3-0 ledger.
