The Cardinals (19-20, 13-8 Mid-American Conference) beat Kent State 11-3 in the Friday night series opener but dropped the next two games of the three-game set to the league-leading Golden Flashes.
The Hoosiers (18-22, 6-12 Big Ten) took 2 of 3 games against Abilene Christian at home last weekend and won 6-4 against Ball State back on April 7 in the first game between the two teams.
Jeff Mercer is in his eighth season as the head coach at IU, as the Hoosiers were picked to finish fifth in the Big Ten preseason poll a year after going 32-24 (16-14) to tie for sixth in the final conference standings.
