Baseball Adds Alex Burden to Staff in Operations / Analytics Role

The Ball State baseball program and head coach Rich Maloney have announced the addition of Alex Burden to the staff in a baseball operations / analytics role.
Burden pitched for the Cardinals the last two seasons and on the academic side was a data analytics major.
"We are excited to have Alex join our staff and for him to start his coaching career," Maloney said.
Burden joins recruiting coordinator Alex Maloney, pitching coach Bob Keller and assisting pitching coach / first base coach Luke Jaksich as assistants on Rich Maloney's staff for the 2027 season, which will be his 32nd overall as a head coach and 22nd at Ball State.
A left-handed pitcher from Baton Rouge, La., Burden struck out 60 in 63.2 innings across 32 appearances for the Cardinals in 2025 and 2026.
