April 12, 2026 | Men's Golf
BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. -- Playing at the highly esteemed Pete Dye Golf Club this week, the Ball State men's golf team takes part in the Mountaineer Invitational at Pete Dye, hosted by West Virginia University. The par-72, 7,308-yard course at Pete Dye will be the site of three rounds played among 19 top college programs. Simultaneous to the Mountaineer Invitational team event, select individuals will play in an alternate tournament, the Bridgeport Collegiate Individual, at nearby Bridgeport Country Club.
Both events begin play at 8:30 a.m., Monday, with a shotgun start to begin the first two rounds of competition. A final round for both events will start with tee times beginning at 8:15 a.m., Tuesday.
For Ball State in the team event, freshmen Luke Johnston and Samuel Harris will anchor the Cardinals lineup as they have most of the fall and spring seasons. Sophomore Happy Gilmore will play in the No. 3 position after strong showings last week at both the Don Benbow Invitational and the Mason Rudolph Championship, at Vanderbilt. Senior Carter Smith plays out of the No. 4 position, with Baylor transfer Aidan Gutierrez playing out of the No. 5 slot. Participating for the Cardinals in the Bridgeport event is sophomore Gavin Hare.
The Cardinals compete in 54 rounds on Monday and Tuesday, prior to returning to Indiana in time for the Hoosier Collegiate Invitational, Saturday and Sunday, in Bloomington. The event at IU concludes the Ball State regular season schedule, ahead of the 2026 Mid-American Conference Championship at Holliday Farms Golf Club in Zionsville, May 3-5.
