Cardinals Riding Momentum into Tuesday Night Game at Indiana
April 07, 2025 | Baseball
The Ball State baseball team rides a four-game winning streak into a Tuesday night game at Indiana.
The Cardinals (23-10, 10-2 Mid-American Conference) and Hoosiers (16-14, 7-6 Big Ten) are set to square off at 6 p.m. in Bloomington, and the game will have a B1G+ broadcast. Mick Tidrow will be on a free digital radio broadcast for the Cardinals. Links to the video stream, radio broadcast and live stats can be found above and on the schedule page.
Ball State and Indiana were set to play a midweek game in Bloomington last April, but it was canceled due to rain. The two teams were also supposed to play at Victory Field in Indianapolis, but that game got delayed to the next day and was played in Muncie, ending with a 7-7 tie after 12 innings. The Cardinals and Hoosiers are next scheduled to face each other on Wednesday, April 23 at 6 p.m. at Victory Field.
Ball State swept Eastern Michigan over the weekend, taking a 13-2 decision in the first game of a doubleheader on Friday and a 4-2 triumph in 14 innings in the nightcap. After a day off Saturday due to weather, the Cardinals came back for a 9-5 win on Sunday after trailing 5-3 entering the ninth inning to secure the sweep of the Eagles.
Indiana hosts Michigan State for a twinbill on Monday after rain pushed the series opener with the Spartans back to Sunday, when the Hoosiers won 6-4. Ball State and Indiana have played common opponents in Xavier, who the Hoosiers lost twice to, and Bellarmine, who both teams run-ruled in midweek play.
Offense is Indiana's strong suit, as it ranks second in the Big Ten in batting average (.305) and slugging percentage (.522, No. 25 in NCAA Division I) while hitting the third-most home runs in the conference (50, No. 28). The pitching staff is ninth in the league with a 5.64 ERA.
Redshirt sophomore outfielder Korbyn Dickerson has hit the third-most homers (13) in the Big Ten, which ranks No. 13 nationally, along with the second-most RBI (47, No. 9) and total bases (95, No. 22) in the league. Junior outfielder Devin Taylor boasts a .372 batting average (No. 7 in the Big Ten), 29 walks (No. 4), 46 hits (No. 4), 10 home runs (No. 9), 35 RBI (No. 10), and 85 total bases (No. 6).
Ball State will next host Northern Illinois for a three-game set starting at 3 p.m. on Friday as the Cardinals' lone scheduled home series in the month of April.
