Cardinals Embark on Two Weeks of Individual Events
March 21, 2025 | Men's Golf
MUNCIE, Ind. -- Following a two-week hiatus after an eighth-place finish at the Dorado Beach Collegiate in Puerto Rico in late February, the Ball State men's golf team returns to competition this weekend in Richmond, Kentucky, where the Cardinals place six individual golfers in The Indy at Arlington. Sixty individual golfers overall play 36 holes in a two-round, one-day event that Coach Mike Fleck is using for competition experience and depth on his roster.
Freshmen Gavin Hare and Happy Gilmore, and sophomore Avery Mahoney, have each played team-scoring rounds for the Cardinals so far this year, but lead the group of six Ball State golfers. Seniors Griffin Hare and Drew Todd, and redshirt junior Colin Nasser complete the lineup in a field that includes Division I opponents Bellarmine, Bowling Green, Eastern Kentucky, Miami, Morehead State, Tennessee-Martin and Xavier. Golfers from nine different schools will participate.
Action Saturday tees off with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. The University Club at Arlington features a 6,709-yard layout that plays at a par 70.
Next week, the Cardinals will send individuals to Butler's Don Benbow Invitational, an annual event on the Ball State schedule that includes two days and 72 holes of competition, March 31 and April 1.
