This year the Toledo Rockets were crowned the MAC regular season champions earning them the No. 1 seed and the right to host next year's 2024 MAC Championship in Toledo.
The Cardinals enter the tournament with a 20-3 overall record and an 9-1 MAC ledger. After Ball State closed out regular season action with a 4-3 win over Miami last Sunday, the Cardinals were able to secure the No. 2 seed in the tourney. The 20-win season is only the third time in over decade that Ball State has reached that plateau, the last time was in 2020-21 (22-4) and 2015-16 (20-6).
Seniors Isabelle Behrman, Jessica Braun, Emily Desai, Amy Kaplan, Livia Lukacs, and Emma Peeler have all been part of back-to-back MAC regular season titles (2020 & 2021), a MAC Tournament championship (2022) and two trips to the NCAA Tournament (2021 & 2022).
Ball State won its meetings against Miami and Buffalo this season but dropped it lone competition at Toledo. The last time Ball State hosted the MAC Tournament and won it was last season when the Cardinals defeated the Rockets, 4-3. Ball State was the No. 1 seed last year while Toledo was seeded at No. 3.
Toledo enters the tournament with an overall record of 19-3 and 10-0 in MAC play while Miami sits at 11-13 and 5-5 in league action. Buffalo comes to Ball State with a 20-7 ledger while finishing its conference season, 6-4.
