Ball State to Host Preseason MAC Favorite Toledo in Friday Matinee
April 09, 2026 | Women's Tennis
MUNCIE, Ind. – The Ball State women's tennis team (9-7, 2-3 MAC) is set to host Mid-American Conference preseason favorite Toledo (8-8, 3-2 MAC) this Friday, April 10, at 1 p.m. ET. The match will be played either outdoors at the Foster Adams Tennis Center and Bill Richards Tennis Courts or indoors at First Serve Muncie.
The Cardinals return to the courts in Muncie following a dominant 6-1 victory over Eastern Michigan last Friday. Ball State is currently looking to climb the conference standings, sitting in sixth place just behind fifth-place Miami (OH).
Ball State's top doubles pairing of Sarah Shahbaz and Isabel Tanjuatco—ranked No. 87 nationally earlier this season—has been a critical anchor for the team, maintaining an undefeated streak in dual match play through much of the spring.
After snapping a losing skid with recent wins over Bowling Green and Eastern Michigan, Ball State is looking to maintain its home-court advantage, where they have played strongly this season (4-1 home record).
Toledo was picked to finish first in the 2026 MAC Preseason Coaches' Poll, receiving five first-place votes. They currently sit fourth in the standings after a recent loss.
While the Cardinals have historically controlled the series matchup, the Rockets have closed the gap in recent years, winning the last two meetings.
