
Cardinals Travel to RedHawks to Conclude Regular Season

MUNCIE, Ind. – The Ball State baseball team takes to the road for the last time in the regular season for a Mid-American Conference matchup with Miami. The Cardinals and RedHawks are scheduled to start the series on Thursday, May 19, followed by a doubleheader on Friday, May 20, and a final game on Saturday, May 21.
Ball State is coming off its first series split of the season against Ohio. The Cardinals enter with a 34-17 overall record and a 28-7 mark in league play, while the RedHawks have a 23-29 overall record and are 18-18 in conference games.
Triple "Cole"mination
Zach Cole is tied for first in the NCAA with eight triples on the season and that is more that 78 NCAA DI teams. He is tied for the single season record for triples in Ball State history. He currently leads the team with a .678 slugging percentage. He is second on the team with a .336 batting average and is second with 10 home runs. He has scored 40 runs, driven in 34, stole seven bases, and has hit six doubles.
The Wright Stuff
Last week, Amir Wright earned a spot on the CoSIDA Academic All-District team. Wright has reached base safely in 50 of the 51 games this season. He leads the team with 48 runs scored and leads the team with a .364 batting average. He is tied for fifth in the NCAA with six triples. He has 30 walks, 30 RBIs, nine stolen bases, nine doubles, and two home runs. Wright is currently 13th in the nation as the toughest to strikeout and leads the MAC with a strikeout average of 15.0. He has struck out just 13 times in 195 at bats.
Maloney Magic
Rich Maloney won his 900th game as a head coach at NIU earlier this season. He moved his win total to 911 after a 2-2 series against Ohio. He is currently ranked 16th among active NCAA DI coaches.
