October 20, 2026 | Baseball
The Ball State baseball program and head coach Rich Maloney have announced the addition of Zach Wade to the staff in a catching coordinator role.
Wade comes to Ball State after playing the last four years at Adrian College in Michigan, where he was a part of teams that won the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association tournament every year from 2023 to 2026.
"We are excited to have Zach join our staff," Maloney said. "In the short time Zach has worked with us, I have been impressed with his professionalism, his work ethic, and his willingness to serve our players and staff any way that helps us. As catching coordinator, I have been impressed with his knowledge of the position and a willingness to learn more. Our catchers are lucky to have Zach coaching them."
Wade joins recruiting coordinator Alex Maloney, pitching coach Bob Keller, assistant pitching coach Luke Jaksich and baseball operations / analytics assistant Alex Burden as assistants on Rich Maloney's staff for the 2027 season, which will be his 32nd overall as a head coach and 22nd at Ball State.
A Batesville, Ind., native, Wade played in 57 collegiate games for the Bulldogs including 31 starts.
