Men's S&D Hosts Valpo & UIndy for Senior Day Saturday

MUNCIE, Ind. - -Â The Ball State men's swimming & diving team closes the dual portion of the 2021-22 season Saturday, when it welcomes both Valparaiso (swimming) and UIndy (diving) to the Lewellen Aquatic Center for Senior Day at 1 p.m.

The women's divers are also scheduled to compete against the Greyhounds.

200 Medley Relay – 1000 Free – 200 Free – 100 Back – 100 Breast – 200 Fly – 50 Free – 3 Meter Diving – 100 Free – 200 Back – 200 Breast – 500 Free – 100 Fly – 1 Meter Diving – 200 IM – 400 Free Relay

It will be the complete team's final tune-up before the 2022 Mid-American Conference Championships which will be held March 2-5 at Southern Illinois.

Select members of the squad will also travel to the Ohio State Winter Invitational (Feb. 11-13) prior to the league championships.

LAST TIME OUT:
The Cardinals are looking to build upon a solid effort last weekend, which started with the team winning nine total events in a Friday swimming-only dual at Bellarmine (Jan. 28). Leading the way with a pair of individual victories, along with participating in two first-place relays, was sophomore breaststroke specialist Joey Garberick.

Ball State also took third among four teams at last Sunday's Butler Invitational (Jan. 30). BSU's student-athletes logged 11 top five finishes, led by a pair of top three swims from Garberick.

IN THE MAC RANKINGS - MEN:
In the latest USA Swimming Mid-American Conference Top Times report, the Ball State men's squad has 14 student-athletes ranked in scoring position in their respective events heading into the final dual meet of the season.Â

The Cardinals also have three student-athletes ranked in the top 16 in non-championship events.

Ball State's student-athletes have been heavily rewarded by the league so far this season, claiming eight MAC Weekly honors. In fact, BSU has won at least one award after every week of competition.
Leading the way is sophomore breaststroke specialist Joey Garberick with four MAC Swimmer of the Week honors (Oct. 21, Nov. 5, Nov. 24, Feb. 2).

Senior Hunter Ongay has earned MAC Diver of the Week honors three times (Oct. 21, Nov. 24, Jan. 26), while junior Wyatt Blake has claimed MAC Diver of the Week accolades once (Nov. 5).

HEADING TO ZONE DIVING CHAMPIONSHIPS:
Junior diver Wyatt Blake locked up a trip to the 2022 NCAA Zone Diving Championships on the 1M board with a score of 320.10 in BSU's Oct. 28 dual versus Miami.

Blake is set to compete in the NCAA Zone C Diving Championships March 7-9 at the University of Michigan's Canham Natatorium.Â

The last Ball State male diver to compete in the NCAA Zone Championships was current BSU diving coach Jake Brehmer who placed 28th on 3M and 35th on 1M at the 2014 event.
