MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State Men's Golf program brings back its annual home fall tournament, the Earl Yestingsmeier Invitational, Friday (Sept. 17) and Saturday Sept. 18) at the Delaware Country Club.
Although, the Cardinals host many events that pay tribute to their late legendary former coach and player Earl Yestingsmeier (1933-2014), this is the first time since the 2012 season that the Ball State men's golf team has put on this once annual event during the fall.
The following 13 teams will be represented Ball State, Bowling Green, Butler, Eastern Kentucky, IUPUI, Loyola, Morehead State, Northern Kentucky, Oakland, Ohio, Purdue Fort Wayne, Taylor and Wright State.
The 54-hole tournament will be played over two days on the par-70 at Delaware Country Club in a five-player four-count team format. The first 36 holes are scheduled for Friday with a 9 a.m. continuous play shotgun with the final 18 slated for a split tee 9:30 a.m. start on Saturday.
The five-player lineup for the Cardinals will be Joey Ranieri, Evan Bone, Colin Nasser, Joey Wiseman and Ali Khan. Individual participants for Ball State are Kash Bellar, Griffin Hare, Carson Orr and Drew Todd
Ball State head coach Mike Fleck, who is in his 24th season at the helm of the Cardinals, has won the EY invitational six times with his last time being in 2011. The Cardinals have hosted this tournament on and off since the 1974-75 season. It was previously known as the Ball State Invitational, the event was then re-named in Yestingsmeier's honor beginning with the 2001-02 season.
