Ball State Clinches Share of MAC Women’s Tennis Title

OXFORD, Ohio - The Ball State women's tennis team clinched a share of the 2021 Mid-American Conference women's tennis title Friday afternoon with its 4-3 win at Miami. With the victory, the Cardinals extended their win streak to 20 (20-2) while remaining undefeated in conference play with an 11-0 ledger.
In eight seasons, head coach Max Norris has led the Ball State women's tennis program to accomplishments it had never achieved. Norris now has three MAC regular season titles under his belt along with winning the Cardinals first-ever MAC Tournament championship and berth to the NCAA Tournament in 2016.
Ball State opened today's contest by taking the doubles point over one of its longest MAC rivals, as the RedHawks suffered losses to the Cardinals on courts two and three.
Victoria Sec and Livia Lukacs earned a 6-4 decision over Melati Devi and her partner Makenzie Myers at the No. 2 spot to clinch the doubles point for the Ball State while Jessica Braun and Mariya Polishchuk also helped put BSU on the board first with the twosome's 6-3 win against Miami's No. 3 duo of Lena Babunski and Milana Lysova.
In singles, Livia Lukacs and Polishchuk pushed the Cardinals lead to 3-0 over the RedHawks winning on courts six and three, respectively.
As four courts remained and Ball State needing just one more point, Kaplan tallied a straight set victory (6-3, 7-5) on court four against Lysova for the game-winner.
The Ball State women's tennis team will have the opportunity to claim the Mid-American Conference title outright on Sunday when it hosts Western Michigan at 2 p.m. ET at the Cardinal Creek Tennis Center, weather permitting.
