Set Three (BSU 25, BAC 17)- The Crusaders claimed an early two-point advantage in the match's final set, but the Cardinals scored six straight points early on to grab a four-point lead of their own. Ball State never looked back and went on to close out the match on an Isaacson service ace.
NOTES AND QUOTES
-"I thought there were times we were very good defensively tonight. The service pressure we put on them was excellent. We went through and looked at our team's play the last three years, and the thing we found was we win the majority of the time when we served more aces. Overall it was a good performance, but we will look to clean everything up moving forward." – Head coach Joel Walton
-Freshman Wil McPhillips made his Ball State debut and finished with two kills and four blocks.
-With the victory, coach Walton earned his 392nd all-time win. He needs just eight more to reach 400 for his career.
-Szews recorded two service aces on the night and is now just five short of the school record set by Nick Meyer (111).
-Ball State won all three replay reviews in the match. Two challenges were initiated by Belmont Abbey, and one by Ball State.
UP NEXT
The Cardinals face a quick turnaround with a match against Queens on Saturday night. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET, and a live stream will be available via BallStateSports.com.
