Louis, Patterson, Savitski-Lynde Earn U23 National Team Selections

MUNCIE, Ind. – Three Cardinals from the Ball State men's volleyball program have earned national team selections for upcoming competition. Opposite Ryan Louis and middle blockers Will Patterson and Braydon Savitski-Lynde have been selected to the 14-man U23 National Team roster that will compete at the NORCECA U23 Pan American Cup in San Salvador, El Salvador, Sept. 20-28.
Savitski-Lynde returns to national team competition after most recently serving on the Men's U21 National Team in 2024. Patterson and Louis experience their first taste of national team competition.
Savitski-Lynde started all 24 matches he played during the 2026 season, tallying 68 total blocks, including five matches with five or more. His average of 0.85 blocks per set ranked fifth in the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (MIVA). Offensively, he averaged 1.58 kills per set with 126 total kills while hitting .495 for the season. He recorded five or more kills on 16 occasions and led the Cardinals in blocks six times. Following the season, Savitski-Lynde was named second team All-MIVA and earned Honorable Mention American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-American honors.
Louis made 30 starts this past season, recording a career-high 25 kills in a win over Missouri S&T on Jan. 9. He reached double-digit kills on 16 occasions while leading the Cardinals in attacking nine times. His average of 3.25 kills per set ranked fifth in the MIVA. Defensively, he led Ball State with 87 total blocks, averaging 0.84 blocks per set to rank sixth in the league. He posted a career-high seven blocks against NJIT on Jan. 10 and registered five or more blocks in six matches. He finished the season with 331 kills on .315 hitting, 35 service aces, 115 digs and 87 blocks. Louis earned second team All-MIVA honors along with Honorable Mention AVCA All-American recognition.
Patterson appeared in 50 sets across 22 matches, including 12 starts last season. He delivered a career performance in the NCAA Regional Final against Pepperdine on May 2, recording a career-high 11 blocks, including a crucial block assist in the fifth set that helped spark a three-point swing and send the Cardinals to the NCAA Semifinal. Patterson also recorded his first career double-double that night, posting a career-best 12 kills on 18 swings for a .667 hitting percentage. He tallied five or more total blocks on seven occasions and finished the season with 59 blocks, averaging 1.18 per set, along with 69 kills, 12 digs and six service aces. Patterson was named Academic All-MIVA at the conclusion of the 2026 season.
