NEW FACES: The Cardinals welcomed three newcomers this offseason. Setter David Flores and middle attacker Wil McPhillips come to Ball State by way of Illinois while outside attacker Bryce Behrendt hails from Wisconsin. Behrendt was named the Wisconsin High School Male Athlete of the Year in 2019.
RECORD CHASING: Head coach Joel Walton enters 2020 just nine wins shy of number 400 for his career. He is the second winningest coach among current active Division I head coaches. Matt Szews is on the verge of breaking the career service aces record at Ball State. He has notched 105 through his first three years at BSU and needs just seven more to break Nick Meyer's record of 111.
PRESEASON POLL: The Cardinals have work to do in 2020 as they were picked by the MIVA coaches to finish sixth in the league. BSU finished fifth in the MIVA in 2019.
