Audrey Tabor Receives Edith A. Patton Memorial Scholarship
August 22, 2019 | Field Hockey
MUNCIE, Ind. – Second-year Ball State field hockey coach Stephanie Bernthal announced Wednesday that junior Audrey Tabor has been awarded the Edith A. Patton Memorial Scholarship for the 2019-20 school year.
"I chose to give Audrey this scholarship for the year because of her outstanding commitment to offseason preparation, her passion for improving our program, her competitive drive and her defensive abilities," Bernthal said.
Since its inception, the scholarship has been awarded to 18 BSU field hockey student-athletes. It is named in honor of former assistant coach Edith A. Patton, who passed away in 1993 after battling cancer. Patton assisted the Cardinals for 14 years, and her legacy continues through her memorial scholarship.
Tabor, an exercise science major, was named to the All-Mid-American Conference Second Team last season. She played in 17 of the Cardinals' 18 games and became a major defensive force on the field, notching defensive saves in conference action against Miami and in the overtime contest versus UC Davis.
Tabor has also found success off the field, as she was named to the 2018 Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad.
