CLEVELAND, Ohio - Ball State field hockey senior Anya Eicher, redshirt sophomore Rachel Pereira and sophomore Audrey Tabor have earned All-Mid-American Conference honors, as announced by the league office Wednesday (Oct. 31). Â This is the first time since 2007 that the Cardinals have placed three players on All-MAC teams. Â
Eicher picked up All-MAC First Team honors for the first time in her career. Â The senior played in all 17 for the Cardinals, helping them to conference wins over Appalachian State and Ohio University. Â She totaled eight shots on goal this season. Â Eicher registered an assist on the game-winner against the Bobcats in double overtime Oct. 5, helping the Cardinals to a 3-2 double overtime victory.
Pereira and Tabor represented Ball State on the All-MAC Second Team for the first time in their careers. Â Pereira led the Cardinals with 29 shots this season and was second in goals with four. Â She also had two assists and scored the game-winning goal against Ohio. Â Her teammate Tabor was a defensive force on the field for the Cardinals this season notching a defensive save in league play against Miami (Sept. 15) and then a goal line save in an overtime game versus the University of California Davis (Sept. 24).
The Ball State field hockey team will compete in the Mid-American Conference Tournament Thursday as the No. 4 seed and will take on No. 5 Ohio at 10:30 a.m. on the campus of Miami University. Â
