Matt Walsh Honored for Finishing Season Atop the Nation in Hitting Percentage

MUNCIE, Ind. – The Ball State men's volleyball season ended in April, but junior Matt Walsh keeps bringing in the hardware. Walsh just received a plaque from the NCAA for finishing the season with a hitting percentage of .449, the best in the country.
Walsh was also second in the conference with 1.19 blocks per set. The Chicago native finished the season with 223 kills for an average of 2.24 kills per set. He also added 125 total blocks, 26 service aces and 13 digs. Walsh was honored as part of the All-MIVA First Team at the conclusion of the season along with an AVCA Honorable Mention All-American. Walsh is currently third in school history (during rally scoring era) with 336 career block assists and sixth in school history (during rally scoring era) with a .409 career hitting percentage.
Walsh and the Cardinal squad finished the 2017 season with a 19-10 record and 9-7 in MIVA play. The Cardinals will return to the court at the end of the month to help up and coming volleyball players. The team and coaches will be hosting a position camp July 27-29 for boys in grades 6-12.
