
Matt Szews Named to United States Men's Junior National Training Team

MUNCIE, Ind. – USA Volleyball has announced the members of the 2017 U.S. Men's Junior National Training Team (USMJNT), which included Ball State freshman Matt Szews.
The USMJNT team is made up of 20 of the top men's volleyball players in the United States under the age of 21. The group of 20 have been training in Lake Placid since June 6 and was narrowed down to the traveling roster last night. Szews and the rest of the crew will compete in the World Championships in the Czech Republic from June 23- July 2.
Szews finished the season with a number of post-season awards. He was named MIVA Co-Freshman of the Year, All-MIVA First Team, MIVA All-Freshman Team and AVCA All-American Honorable Mention. Szews led the team with a total of 357 kills for 3.37 kills per set. He also led the team with 39 service aces. Szews finished the season third in school history (during rally scoring era) with 3.37 kills per set, first in school history (during rally scoring) in service aces per set with 0.37, and 12th in school history (during rally scoring era) with 1.60 digs per set.
