Red Team Prevails in Men's Swim and Dive Second Intrasquad Meet

MUNCIE, Ind.– The Ball State men's swimming and diving team rounded out preseason action with the second Red/Black/White meet of the season. The Red Team came out on top this go around with a score of 91. The Black Team came in second with a score of 76 while the White Team earned 64.
The Red Team, lead by team captain Isaac Walling, had six first place finishes on the day. Walling placed first in the 1000 freestyle with a final time of 10:23.87. He also placed first in the 500 freestyle after touching the wall at 5:05.88. Luke Nondorf was another first place finisher in the 50 freestyle (22.06). Ben Andrew placed first in the 200 IM (1:58.51) while Adam Pongracz finished first in the 200 butterfly (1:59.63). As a team, they started off the day with a top finish in the 400 medley relay. The relay was made up of Andrew, Nondorf, Pongracz and Cobie Fritsch.
Three first place finishes went to the Black Team, lead by captain Banistre Lienhart. As a team, they earned the top spot in the 400 freestyle relay. The relay was made up of Logan Ackley, Davis Meyn, Krent Hueni, and Lienhart. Hueni had two individual first place finishes in the 200 freestyle relay (1:48.45) and in the 100 freestyle (49.15). Ackley marked a time of 1:56.24 in the 200 backstroke, earning him a first place finish as part of the Black Team.
Gabe Dean earned two first place finishes for the White Team. Dean marked a score of 228.38 in the 1-meter dive and a score of 222.30 in the 3-meter dive. Cullen Tyler was the other member of the White Team to touch the wall first in his event. Tyler recorded a score of 2:14.93 in the 200 breaststroke. Spencer Ball earned a second place finish in the 200 IM after touching the wall at 2:01.30. Drew Weeks marked a time of 49.40 to earn himself a second place spot in the 100 freestyle. As a team, they marked a time of 3:40.95 in the 400 medley relay.
The Ball State men's swimming and diving team will kick off the regular season on Saturday, Nov. 11 at Lewellen Aquatics Center. The Cardinals will be competing in a co-ed meet against Tiffin. Meet time is set for 1 p.m.
