Swim and Dive Both With Big Wins Over Tiffin

MUNCIE, Ind.– The Ball State swimming and diving teams welcomes the Tiffin Dragons to Lewellen Aquatics Center Saturday afternoon and both got the W. The Ball State women's swimming and diving team defeated Tiffin with a final score of 176-46. The Ball State men's team won with a score of 173-101.
For the men, the started off the day with the first place finish in the 200 medley relay. Spencer Ball, Cullen Tyler, Ben Andrew, and Zach Reichle posted at time of 1:37.26 to earn that top spot. The Cardinals also ended the day with a win as well. Krent Hueni, Drew Weeks, Logan Ackley and Andrew earned that number one spot with a time of 1:28.63.
Cullen Tyler finished the day with three wins. In the 1000 free, Tyler recorded a time of 10:15.37 to earn first place. Tyler also earned the top spot in the 100 breaststroke (1:00.70) and in the 200 breaststroke (2:11.88).
Other first place finishers for the men swimmers include Krent Hueni in the 200 freestyle (1:46.61), Ben Andrew in the 50 freestyle (21.92), Drew Weeks in the 100 freestyle (48.10), and Davis Meyn in the 500 freestyle (4:59.77).
On the boards for the Cardinals, Sean Wolfe finished atop the pack in both the 1-meter and the 3-meter. In the 1-meter, Wolfe earned a score of 240.38. On the 3-meter, Wolfe earned a 241.20.
On the women's side, the day was highlighted with 13 first place finishes. Both relays earned the top spot to start and end the day. In the 200 medley relay, the Cardinals squad, made up of Andrea Richter, Amanda Kedzierski, Traci Muszalski, and Morgan Brebberman, posted a time of 1:51.27. In the 200 freestyle relay, Peighton Gilbert, Richter, Sophie Bader, and Anne Vormohr came together to recorded a time of 1:39.07.
Audrey Schank , Rachel Bertram and Liz Madison were Cardinals with two first place finishes. Schank had a time of 25.05 in the 50 freestyle and a time of 2:16.05 in the 200 IM to win those events. Bertram scored 246.90 in the 1-meter dive and 286.50 in the 3-meter dive. Madison won both the 100 breaststroke (1:10.69) and the 500 freestyle (5:18.69).
Other top finishers on the day for the women were Audrey Mayer in the 100 backstroke (1:01.33), Maryn Meldrum in the 100 freestyle (54.82), Anne Vormohr in the 200 backstroke (2:09.47), and Sophie Bader in the 200 breaststroke (2:33.28).
"This meet was good for us to race back-to-back days and rehearse for our mid-season invitational," said head coach Kristy Patterson. "We had a number of season best performances, which showed our resilience from last evening to today. It was fun to be in good company with our men's team to watch them race as well."
Both the Ball State men's and women's swimming and diving teams will be in action again next week in another co-ed meet. The Cardinals will host Grand Valley State on Saturday, Nov. 18 at 1 p.m.
