Makris Leads Men’s Golf at Inverness

LEADERBOARD
TOLEDO, Ohio -- Michael Makris fired a final-round 69 (-2) Tuesday to lead the Ball state men's golf team and move into the top 25 at the Inverness Intercollegiate.
The Cardinals finished in a tie for 11th place as a team at the Inverness Club. They also counted a 72 from Timothy Wiseman, a 75 from Michael VanDeventer and a 76 from Johnny Watts in the closing round. The Cardinals shot 292 for the day to finish with a 54-hole score of 888.
Auburn came from three shots back entering the day to win by three with a total of 843 (-9). Overnight leader Duke (-6) took second as the only other team under par.
Michigan's Nick Carlson and Duke's Jake Shuman finished tied atop the individual leaderboard at 4 under par, and Carlson won a playoff to claim medalist honors.
Makris was the top Ball State player individually, tying for 23rd at 4 over for the tournament. Wiseman and Watts were next in a tie for 44th.
Ball State will continue its fall season next Monday and Tuesday at the Firestone Invitational in Akron, Ohio.
