Men’s Golf Finishes Fourth at ODU/OBX Intercollegiate

Timothy Wiseman leads Cardinals with career-best eighth-place finish

POWELLS POINT, N.C. -- The Ball State men's golf team fell to fourth place on the final leaderboard Tuesday at the ODU/OBX Intercollegiate.
Sophomore Timothy Wiseman posted his best career result with a tie for eighth individually, but the Cardinals dropped three spots on the final day with their highest round of the tournament (295).
Michael VanDeventer led Ball State in the closing round with a 72 (+1) at Kilmaric Golf Club. The Cardinals also counted 74s from Wiseman and Michael Makris and a 75 from Johnny Watts.
Campbell came from 12 strokes back entering the final round to claim the team title with a 54-hole total of 845 (-7). The Camels finished one stroke ahead of tournament host Old Dominion and three clear of third-place Akron. Ball State was fourth at 853 (+1) in the field of 18 teams.
Junior Keegan McKinney held the individual lead heading into the final round but struggled to an 80 after shooting 67 the previous day. He was still the Cardinals' second-best finisher in a tie for 22nd at 3 over par.
All five Ball State golfers finished among the top 30 in a field of 93 players. VanDeventer (+4) was 25th, Watts (+5) was 27th, and Makris (+6) was 28th.
Old Dominion's David Langley was the individual medalist at 9 under par. Wiseman finished eight shots back in eighth. His 54-hole total of 212 (-1) was the best of his college career.
Ball State has one event remaining on its fall schedule. The Cardinals will play Nov. 4-6 at the Ka'anapali Collegiate Classic in Lahaina, Hawaii.
