Ball State's baseball team used three home runs to rally to a 9-6 win at Dayton Saturday afternoon with Elbert Devarie's three-run home run in the eighth inning sealing the victory.

The Cardinals scored two runs in each of the first three innings, but Dayton managed three runs in the first three frames to limit the Cardinals to a 6-3 advantage. The Flyers tied the game with three more in the fourth before Ball State's three-run eighth inning sealed the victory.

In the eighth, Ball State's Ryan Spaulding singled to right field to start the inning. After Alex Call walked to put runners on first and second, Mike Roberson's sacrifice bunt moved runners to second and third with one out. Devarie's three-run HR in the eighth was all the Cardinals needed to seal the victory.

The first three innings saw Call hit a two-run homer, Colin Brockhouse hit a double with two runs-batted-in and Jarett Rindfleisch's two-run HR.

Devin Wilburn improved to 3-0 after pitching 1.2 innings, allowing no runs and only one hit. B.J. Butler was credited with his third save of the year after throwing the final 1.1 innings and allowing only one hit. Zach Plesac started the game for the Cardinals and pitched 6.0 innings, striking out seven and walking only two.

Spaulding was 2-for-4 on the day with two runs scored. Call ended the day 1-for-3 with two RBI and three runs scored. Devarie was 1-for-3 with three RBI and one run scored. Rindfleisch was 1-for-3 from the plate with two RBI and one run scored.

The Cardinals, 9-7 on the season, will play the Flyers in a doubleheader Sunday at noon.
