
Field Hockey Shutout by Indiana, 4-0

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Ball State field hockey team fell to Indiana, 4-0, Saturday afternoon at the IU Field Hockey Field.
Indiana (3-0) paced the contest with strong offensive pressure, as the Hoosiers outshot the Cardinals, 28-3. Ball State (0-3) was unable to come away with a goal, however senior forward Caitlin Maguire (Louisville, Ky./Presentation Academy) finished with a shot on goal.
At 15:28 mark, the Hoosiers' Brenna Moeljadi put Indiana on the board after she scored off a corner past Ball State goalkeeper Haley Fusting (Louisville, Ky./Sacred Heart) to initiate the 4-0 scoring run.
Freshmen Kaitlin Thompson (San Carlos, Calif./St. Francis) and Sanne Hermans (The Hague, Holland) each tallied one shot on the day while Fusting finished with a career-high 13 saves during 70 minutes of action.
Next up for the Cardinals, head coach Beth Maddox and the team opens the home portion of the 2011 season Tuesday, Sept. 13 at the BSU Turf Field against Northwestern at 3 p.m.
The contest marks the 25th time Ball State and Northwestern will met as the Wildcats own the 15-7-2 all-time record against the Cardinals. Ball State has tallied an all-time record of 47-59 (.443) at BSU Turf Field in Muncie, Ind. since the facility opened Sept. 12, 1998.
