
Men's S&D Suffers 170-119 Setback At EMU

YPSILANTI, Mich. - - The Ball State men's swimming & diving team suffered a 170-119 setback to four-time defending Mid-American Conference Champions Eastern Michigan Saturday afternoon at Jones Natatorium.
With the loss, the Cardinals fall to 1-2 (1-1 MAC) on the season, while the Eagles were competing in their first meet of the year and move to 1-0 (1-0 MAC).
Overall, Ball State captured wins in six of the meet's 16 events.
Ball State's first win came in the meet's fifth event, when junior Gavin McNeeley captured top billing in the 100 breaststroke with a season-best time of 58.81.
Junior Chris Krupa added a pair of wins for the Cardinals, taking home first in both the 200 breaststroke (2:11.50) and the 100 butterfly (50.92). Both were season-best efforts.
Also scoring individual wins for the Cardinals were sophomore Michael Weber in the 200 IM (1:58.30) and freshman Jake Brehmer on the 1-meter diving board (235.72).
Ball State's final win of the meet came in the 400 freestyle relay, when junior Casey Schroeder, Krupa, McNeeley and freshman Tucker Hale combined for a time of 3:12.81.
The Ball State men's swimming & diving team returns to action Nov. 12-13, when it travels to Indianapolis for the 2010 IUPUI House of Champions meet. Action is set to begin at 6 p.m. Friday, and 10 am Saturday.
