Men's S&D Captures IUPUI House Of Champions Title

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - - For the fifth time in the last six seasons, the Ball State men's swimming and diving squad took home top billing in the IUPUI House of Champions meet, tallying 770 points to best the second-place squad in the two day, six-team meet by 68.5 points at the IUPUI Natatorium.
Xavier was the second-place squad, finishing with 701.5 points, followed by IUPUI (506.5), Indianapolis (453.5), Centre College (345.5) and Western Illinois (293).
The Cardinals opened the meet with a thrilling .09 second victory in the 200 freestyle relay, as Michael Weber, Chris Krupa, Tony DeBrota and Casey Schroeder combined for a final wall touch of 1:26.46.
Two events later, Krupa gave the Cardinals their first individual event win of the meet, posting a time of 1:56.26 in the 200 individual medley.
Ball State's next victory came on the second day of competition, when Weber, Gavin McNeeley, Krupa and Schroeder captured the top slot in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:35.97.
Weber picked up his first individual event victory in the meet's 12th event, the 100 backstroke, clocking in at 53.18.
The Ball State men's swimming & diving team returns to action next Friday, when it opens competition in the 2010 Doug Coers Invitational. The two-day event starts at 6:30 p.m. Friday, and begins again at 9 a.m. Saturday.
