For his play in leading the Ball State baseball team to a 3-1 record last week, junior infielder Dylan Grego has been named the Pridemark Construction Student-Athlete of the Week.
Grego had multiple hits, including a home run, and 3+ RBI in each game of a series at Akron over the weekend. The junior went 3-for-4 with a three-run homer, four RBI and two runs scored in Ball State's 11-2 win over the Zips in Friday's series opener.
He followed that up with another 3-for-4 effort including a double, home run and three RBI in Saturday's 5-2 win, which featured an RBI double in the first inning for the day's initial offense and a two-run blast in the sixth inning to give the Cardinals a 4-0 lead. The everyday shortstop added a double, a homer and three more runs batted in for the nightcap of Saturday's twinbill.
Overall, Grego went 8-for-12 with two doubles, three homers, 10 RBI and four runs scored in just two days to lead Ball State to its third straight MAC series triumph to begin the year.
