For his part in helping guide the Ball State baseball team to a three-game sweep of Akron, junior catcher Hunter Dobbins has been named the Pridemark Construction Student-Athlete of the Week.
Dobbins blasted home runs in each game of a weekend series against the Zips, leading the Cardinals to a pivotal MAC series sweep. The junior from nearby Indianapolis homered to left field in the first game of a Saturday doubleheader against the Zips before hitting balls over the fence in right field and center in game two.
Dobbins wrapped up the weekend with a grand slam, a 3-for-3 performance, and five RBIs in Sunday's sweep clincher.
The starting catcher for all three games, he sported a perfect fielding percentage, an .889 batting average (8-for-9), two doubles, four home runs, 22 total bases, 10 RBI, two walks and six runs scored. Dobbins compiled a cool 3.333 OPS on the weekend.
