MUNCIE, IND. - - The Ball State women's golf team opens its busiest week of the 2026-27 season Monday with the first of three rounds in the Golfweek Red Sky Classic held on the Fazio Course of the Red Sky Golf Club in Wolcott, Colorado.
Action in the event on the 72-par, 6,376-yard course will run over the first three days of the week with 10 a.m. MST dual tee starts Monday and Tuesday, followed by a 9:30 a.m. MST shotgun start for the final round Wednesday.
When the Cardinals return from Colorado, the team heads straight to South Bend, Indiana, for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish Invitational (Sept. 26-27) on the Warren Golf Course.
Ball State enters the Golfweek Red Sky Classic fresh off its fifth event title under fifth-year head coach Cameron Andry, as it won the Brittany Kelly Classic for the fourth consecutive seasons.
The Cardinals achieved the title in record fashion, shooting -7 (281) in the final round for the lowest team round in program history. The effort was aided by a furious rally late in Tuesday's final round sparked by a chip-in eagle on the par 4, 341-yard 17th from sophomore Skylar Dean.
It was part of a seven-under stretch by Ball State's countable scorers in the round, which also included two birdies from freshman Taylor Larkins and sophomore Ashley Kirkland, along with one from junior Sophie Korthuijs.
The effort also helped the Cardinals finish the event at -6 (858) for the lowest 54-hole score in program history, four strokes better than the previous record of -2 (862) set at last season's Diamante Intercollegiate (Oct. 19-21, 2026).
In fact, it was just the second time Ball State has broken par as a team in a 54-hole event and was 17 strokes better than its previous best team score in the 24-year history of the Brittany Kelly Classic. Both Ball State's -7 (281) final-round score and -6 (858) 54-hole score were Brittany Kelly Classic event records.
In addition to the team title, Larkins took home medalist honors in just her second collegiate meet, rebounding from a +4 (76) in her opening round to shoot -6 (138) over her final two rounds to win the event by one stroke. Larkins turned in five birdies over her final nine holes of the event to finish the tournament at -2 (216).
Looking specifically at the Golfweek Red Sky Classic, the Cardinals will be making its second appearance in the event under Andry's leadership. The last time Ball State played in the event was during the 2023-24 season. Ball State tied for 13th among the 16-team field with a score of +57 (921), highlighted by shooting +13 (301) in the final round.
Then-sophomore Sarah Gallagher was Ball State's top performer in the event, shooting +8 (224) to tie for 25th among the 89-golfer field.
Tee times and starting holes for this year's edition of the event will be updated when available.
