Soccer Hosting Butler Sunday Afternoon at the Briner Sports Complex

Pregame Senior Day Ceremony Set for a Half Hour before the 1 PM Kickoff
The Ball State soccer team returns home to the Briner Sports Complex to host Butler at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
There will be a pregame Senior Day ceremony that will start about a half hour before kickoff, so fans are encouraged to arrive early to support the Ball State seniors. Links to the ESPN+ broadcast and live stats can be found above and on the schedule page.
The Cardinals (2-2) have won two in a row after most recently securing a 1-0 decision at IU Indy last Sunday. Addie Chester broke away for the game-winning goal in the 31st minute to lead Ball State to the victory.
Butler (2-1-1) also didn't play a midweek match, as the Bulldogs last played on Sunday, Aug. 31 and fell 1-0 at Northwestern. Butler had a 1-1 draw at Purdue on Aug. 24 in the only contest between common opponents with the Cardinals. The Bulldogs opened the season with a 2-0 win at Mid-American Conference member Central Michigan.
Tari St. John is in her 20th season in charge at Butler, sporting a 195-137-48 career record. The Bulldogs have utilized a co-head coach structure over the last decade-plus, with Rob Alman joining St. John to lead the program from Indianapolis.
Butler paces the Big East in assists per game (3.50, No. 8 in NCAA Division I), total assists (14, No. 24) and fewest fouls per game (6.50) while ranking second in goals-against average (0.75). Senior forward Leila Lister leads the league in shots on goal per game (2.25) and ranks fourth nationally in shot accuracy (0.818).
Up next for the Cardinals is a road match at Purdue Fort Wayne at 4 p.m. on Wednesday.

Delaney Ahearn, Delaney Caldwell, Addie Chester, Grace Havard, Abby Jenkins, Fiona Kilian, Grace Konopatzki, Tori Monaco, Emily Roper, and Kira Verburg will be honored at the Briner Sports Complex.
CHESTER CHURNING OUT GOALS: Senior forward Addie Chester scored the game-winning goal in Sunday's 1-0 triumph at IU Indy, finding the back of the net for the second match in a row and third of four contests on the year.
The Muncie native has improved her Ball State career totals to 14 goals, nine assists and 37 points with the strong start to the season. Chester is T-9th, T-16th and T-10th in those categories, respectively, in school history.
Chester paces the Mid-American Conference in goals (four), points (nine) and points per game (2.25) so far this season while ranking ninth in NCAA Division I with a goal per game average.
IN-STATE RIVALRIES: Five of Ball State's first six matches of the regular season are against teams from the state of Indiana.
Butler will be the fourth such team followed by Purdue Fort Wayne on Sept. 10. The Bulldogs lead the series history with the Cardinals 7-3-1.

Caldwell is three assists away from tying Ehren Reagor's program record of 18 in a career, while she is three points and four goals away from cracking the Top 5 in those career categories as well.
