Soccer Falls in Thursday Night Match at Purdue

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Ball State soccer team fell behind early and suffered a 5-0 setback to Purdue on Thursday night at Folk Field.
The Cardinals (1-2-1) couldn't contain a Purdue (4-0-1) offense that had scored 22 goals in its three previous matches, as the host Boilermakers benefitted from four penalty kick scores in the opening half on their way to a five-goal advantage at the break.
Anna Kate Robillard took two shots for Ball State, and Grier Isaacson was credited with a shot on goal. Mary Jane Keller also had a shot on the night for the visiting Cardinals.
Goalkeeper Kate Pallante made six saves for Ball State, while Ainsley Schaufele and Jordyn Klaasen were other Cardinals to play the full 90 minutes.
Purdue held advantages in shots (29-4) and corner kicks (8-2), and Ball State was whistled for more fouls (14-9) during the contest.
The Cardinals are set to return home to host Cincinnati at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
