
Two Big Meets Approaching for Ball State Track and Field

MUNCIE, Ind. – Ball State track and field returns to action with two meets this weekend, the Bryan Clay Invitational and the Gibson Invitational.Â
Bryan Clay Invitational:
Senior distance runner, Shelby Christman, will represent Ball State at the Bryan Clay Invitational hosted by Azusa Pacific University in Azusa, California. Christman will run in the 10k, her first time competing at this distance this season.Â

Gibson Invitational:
The Cardinals will send a bigger group to Indiana State's Gibson Invitational in Terre Haute, Indiana. Competition will begin on Thursday, Apr. 17 with multi events and will go through Saturday, Apr. 19. The Gibson Invitational will be the first opportunity for Ball State's multis athletes to compete in the heptathlon this season.Â

Last Time Out:Â
Ball State track and field's seniors had an outstanding performance at the home We Fly Challenge last weekend. On the track, Moriah Johnson and Jenna Oriani opened competition with dominance in the 4x100-meter relay. The team, joined by Alana Springer and Kylee Marshall, finished first with a time of 45.09, making them the fourth fastest relay team in Ball State history.Â
Oriani went on to finish second in the 400-meter and fourth in the 200-meter to conclude her weekend. Emma Potter also ran well in the 400-meter dash, finishing third.Â
Along with her relay win, Springer was also victorious in the 100 and 200-meter dash. In the 200, Springer ran a new personal best, finishing in a time of 23.67.Â
Also running a personal best was Kenli Nettles, who finished the 100-meter hurdles second in a time of 14.09.Â
Wrapping up the successful weekend, jumpers Mckenna Cinotte, Brenna Lehrke, Emma Upp and Taylor Hickman swept the top four in the triple jump.Â

Following this weekend, the Cardinals will have two more outdoor regular season meets before heading to the Mid-American Conference Championships on May 15-17 in Athens, Ohio.Â
