MUNCIE, Ind. — Ball State women's tennis tallied its third-consecutive victory Saturday afternoon in a 4-3 decision against Dayton, completing the season sweep of the Flyers' tennis teams on the men's and women's sides. The Cardinals' win elevated their season mark to 3-1, while Dayton's loss dropped its record to 5-4.
The red and white opened the afternoon of action at the Northwest YMCA by securing the doubles point. Elena Malykh and Isabel Tanjuatco—playing together for the first time in 2025—were the first pair off the court, cruising to a 6-1 win at No. 2 doubles. Ball State's No. 1 pairing of Chloe Brown and Alana Bristow later put the Cardinals up 1-0 in the team match, as they polished off a 6-2 victory against the Flyers.
Tanjuatco carried over her fine performance in doubles play by collecting a swift victory at No. 4 singles. The sophomore did not concede a game in her straight-sets win, moving her spring singles record to 3-1. Dating back to the Cardinals' Feb. 7 match against Eastern Illinois, she has won six-straight sets in singles play.
Brown was not far behind her teammate on court four, as she soared to a 6-0, 6-2 victory at the No. 3 spot. The graduate transfer tallied her third win as a Cardinal in the commanding triumph.
Ball State earned the fourth and decisive point on court five, where Bristow collected a 6-4, 6-3 win. Her victories in both singles and doubles marked the second time this season that she posted a two-win outing. By emerging victorious at No. 5 singles, Bristow also won at her highest position as a Cardinal.
Dayton earned its three points on courts one, two and six. Malykh's match at No. 1 singles was the tightest-contested matchup of the afternoon, as she and Natalie Osiecki battled to three sets. Malykh captured the second frame after dropping the first, but ultimately fell 10-7 in a tiebreaker that decided the match.
The Cardinals are set to travel to East Lansing, Michigan, for a pair of matches next weekend. They will take on Youngstown State at 3 p.m. Saturday and Michigan State at 2 p.m. Sunday.
