Patterson Leads Men's S&D During Day Two at House of Champions

INDIANAPOLIS – The Ball State men's swimming and diving program continued its strong showing at the 2025 House of Champions Friday, putting together one event win and seven top five finishes to end day two third out of 11 teams with 1,267 points. The men currently sit behind Missouri State (1,493) and hosting IU Indy (1720).
Freshman George Patterson dominated at the IU Natatorium, topping the program record in the 200 freestyle on two occasions. Patterson initially set the new standard during prelims (1:36.97), and then once again in the A Final (1:35.98). Patterson placed first in the event as he shaved nearly a whole second off his initial program standard.
Patterson also contributed in relay efforts, anchoring the fifth-place 200 medley team (1:28.32) with William Raches, Aidan Biddle and AJ Friend, and the second-place 800 freestyle relay team (6:36.94) alongside Malcolm Slater, Jacob Siewers and Dominick Perkowski.
Biddle earned two top five placements in the breaststroke finals, taking fourth in the 50 (24.68) and fifth in the 100 (54.50).
In the 100 butterfly, Friend turned in the second-fastest time in program history (48.27), placing fifth in the event.
On the 3-meter board, Ryan Farmer led with a fourth-place finish in the final with a score of 336.40, earning the seventh-best score in program history. Zach Shaddy, who topped the consolation final with a score of 352.20, earned the fifth best in program history.
The men's squad looks to wrap up their trip tomorrow for the third and final day at House of Champions, with prelims beginning at 10 a.m and finals at 5 p.m.
