Ball State Bounces Back with Saturday Victory Over Miami

With the win, Ball State improved to 31-18 overall and 18-8 in MAC games, while Miami fell to 19-33 and 13-16 in league action.
Dobbins launched a 1-1 pitch over the left field wall for a solo home run. The Cardinals took a 1-0 lead into the fourth inning.

Logan Flood drew a seven-pitch walk with one out to start the bottom of the fifth inning. Dobbins produced his second homer of the game, this time a two-run shot to left. Ball State extended its lead to 3-0 after five innings in the books.

Justin Conant started the bottom of the eighth off with a one-out homer over the left field wall. Nick Gregory singled to right field to keep things going for BSU. Adam Tellier singled through the right side and moved Gregory to third. Decker Scheffler notched a ground-rule double to left field that drove in Gregory. Ball State took a 5-0 lead into the top of the ninth.

The RedHawks got on the board in the top of the ninth on a solo home run from David Novak.
Ty Weatherly got the start on the mound for Ball State and threw a gem. He went seven innings with a career-high 11 strikeouts and scattered two hits. He picked up the win and moved to 2-3 on the season. Ty Johnson went two innings in relief. He struck out two batters and gave up one earned run on two hits.
Kenten Egbert started on the hill for Miami and went seven innings. He got the loss and fell to 5-3 on the season. He struck out nine and gave up three earned runs. Patrick Mastrian IV added an inning of relief with three strikeouts. He surrendered two earned runs on two hits.
Ball State and Miami return to action on Sunday with first pitch scheduled for 1 p.m.
