
Men's Swimming Wins 11 Events at Valpo

VALPARAISO, Ind. - - The Ball State men's swimming team closed its regular season by defeating Valparaiso 155-99 Friday night (Feb. 3). The Cardinals (3-3) came away with 11 victories at the Valparaiso Aquatic Center.
Leading the way for the Ball State was senior Noah Berryman coming away with a pair of event wins in the 100 (1:00.32) and 200 (2:14.09) breaststroke.
In addition to sweeping the breaststroke the Cardinals claimed all five freestyle victories; 50 free – Jack Wolfred (21.21), 100 free - Mason Young (47.53), 200 free – Owen Chaye (1:43.74), 500 free – Ethan Pheifer (4:52.62), 1000 free – Zachary Moody (10:00.76).
Rounding out Ball States individual event winners were Joey Garberick in the 100 backstroke (50.22), Logan Ayres in the 200 backstroke (1:57.23), and Michael Mitsynskyy in the 200 butterfly (1:57.94).
Ball State also started out the meet with a 1-2-3 finish in the 200 medley relay led by the quartet of Chaye, Michael Burns, Mitsynskyy, and Jacob Siewers (1:35.20).
The Ball State men's diving program will be back in action next weekend (Feb. 10-11) when it travels to the Miami Classic. The rest of Cardinals return to the pool at the MAC Championships hosted by Miami on March 1-4.
