Field Hockey Welcomes Bellarmine & IU to Briner Sports Complex This Weekend

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State field hockey team looks to get back on the winning track at home this weekend when it hosts Bellarmine Friday for at 1 pm ET at the Brinder Sports Complex. The Cardinals will then close out this weekend's home play versus Big Ten foe Indiana on Sunday starting at noon.Â

Ball State (5-7, 2-2 MAC) and Bellarmine (5-7, 2-2 MAC) have met a total of seven times with the Cardinals leading the all-time series 5-2. Four of the seven meetings have been in Muncie.Â

The last time the Cardinals defeated the Knights was a 2-0 take down on Oct. 14, 2022, at Trager Stadium in Louisville, Ky. Both Fleur Knopert and Michaela Graney scored goals against the Knights last season and goalkeeper Hannah Johnston secured the win for BSU with five saves.Â

On Sunday, Ball State will welcome Big Ten foe Indiana (5-8). The last time the Cardinals defeated the Hoosiers was in 2012 when IU played in Muncie. Â Ball State won that game by a score of 3-2.Â

The Hoosiers have won the last six contests over Ball State. Indiana leads the all-time series between the two schools 20-5-1 with Ball State winning the first matchup 8-0 on Oct. 25, 2000.Â

After this weekend, the Ball State field hockey team will host Appalachian State for its annual senior day. The game is slated for a 1 pm ET start.
