MUNCIE, Ind. – The Ball State field hockey team (4-11, 2-6 MAC) is packing its bags for Louisville, Kentucky, to wrap up the 2026 regular season with a demanding two-game road slate. Riding the wave of a spectacular back-to-back winning weekend, the Cardinals will first take on Mid-American Conference foe Bellarmine University on Thursday, Oct. 29, at 3 p.m., before meeting Saint Louis University in a neutral-site season finale on Friday, Oct. 30, at 3 p.m.
The Cardinals head into the weekend with renewed energy after sweeping their home matches last week. Ball State snapped a tough stretch by outlasting Ohio University in a thrilling 4-3 victory on Oct. 23, followed by a dominant 4-1 triumph over Queens University of Charlotte on Senior Day on Oct. 25. Having found their rhythm on the turf, the Cardinals are determined to extend their two-game winning streak and build crucial momentum before postseason play.
Thursday's match features a familiar MAC rivalry as Ball State takes on a struggling Bellarmine Knights squad that sits at 3-13 overall (3-5 MAC). Historically, the Cardinals have held the upper hand in the series, boasting a 7-3 all-time record against Bellarmine. In their last meeting during the 2025 season, Ball State secured a dramatic 2-1 double-overtime victory on senior day, and they look to replicate that success on the road.
On Friday, the focus shifts to a non-conference neutral-site clash at the University of Louisville's Trager Stadium against the Saint Louis Billikens. Ball State commands an impressive 8-4 all-time series lead against Saint Louis, backed by an active seven-game winning streak against the Billikens dating back over a decade. The Cardinals edges out a tight 3-2 victory in their last matchup against SLU in August 2025 and will look to complete the weekend sweep on a high note.
