Field Hockey Travels To CMU Friday; Plays At No. 8 Michigan Sunday

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State field hockey team will play two games in the state of Michigan this weekend beginning with a Mid-American Conference showdown at Central Michigan on Friday at 3 pm ET. The Cardinals will then close the two-game weekend on Sunday against No. 8 Michigan in Ann Arbor at 1 pm ET.Â

The Cardinals enter this weekend's contest with a 4-4 overall record and a 1-2 league ledger while the Chippewas own a 1-8 overall mark. CMU is looking for their first MAC victory of the season after losing to Bellarmine (3-2) and Appalachian State (7-1). The last time these two teams collided was on Ball State's home turf on Sept. 17, 2021, at the Briner Sports Complex when Ball State defeated Central Michigan by a score of 2-1. Lexi Kansky and Michaela Graney each scored a goal that game while goalkeeper Hannah Johnston registered three saves.Â

After Friday's game, the Cardinals will take on its second ranked opponent and third Big Ten school when BSU travels to No. 8 Michigan. The Maize & Blue enter Sunday's game with a 5-4 record and have recently topped fellow Mid-American Conference members, Central Michigan by a score of 9-0 on Sept. 4 and Miami by a 1-0 decision on Sept. 8. The Wolverines lead the all-time series against the Cardinals, 19-5.

Make sure to mark your calendars next weekend as the Cardinals return to the Briner Sports Complex. Ball State will kick off fall break with a game against Ohio on Friday, Oct. 7 and will then host Big Ten foe Michigan State on Sunday. Both games will start at 1 pm ET.
