Women’s Tennis Continues to Dominate Spring Play With 6-1 Win Over Cleveland State

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State women's tennis team got to play outdoors on its home court for the first time this season and they did it in dominating fashion earning a 6-1 victory over Cleveland State Saturday afternoon at the Cardinal Creek Tennis Center.
With the win, Ball State improves to 7-2 on the season while the Vikings drop to 6-8 on the year.
It comes to no surprise that the Cardinals took the early 1-0 edge over Cleveland State after winning the doubles points.
Mariya Polishchuk paired up again with teammate Jessica Braun for a 6-3 take down against the Vikings No. 3 duo of Oihane Vicar and Tereze Vevere. The first point of the match was then claimed by the No. 2 Ball State twosome of Amy Kaplan and Hannah Davies after posting a 6-4 defeat against Bethany Yauch and Selma Tounsi.
The Cardinals went on to dominate singles action taking five of the six courts from the Vikings. Braun clinched match point for Ball State at position No. 2 as she breezed through her competition over Klara Mrcela winning in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1.
Polishchuk, Davies, Elena Malykh and Emily Desai also took home victories today on their respective courts.
The Ball State women's tennis team continues spring play when it heads to California for spring break. The Cardinals will face Azusa Pacific University on Monday at 5:30 pm ET.
