Women’s Tennis Remains Undefeated In MACtion With Win Over Toledo

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State women's tennis team continues to dominate Mid-American Conference action after posting a 6-1 win over Toledo Sunday evening at the Northwest YMCA Tennis Center.
With the win, the Cardinals improved their overall record to 12-2 while remaining unblemished in MAC action with a 3-0 ledger. Ball State also extended it win streak to nine with today's victory over the Rockets who now fall to 12-4 on the year and 2-1 in conference play.
Ball State got off to a favorable start, grabbing the doubles point after a pair of wins at the No. 3 and No. 2 spots. Mariya Polishchuk and Emma Peeler were the first twosome off the court after defeating Toledo's No. 3 duo of Sloan Teske and Christina Fuller. The Rockets evened doubles play by taking court one from the Cardinals. The deciding point came down to Livia Lukacs and Jessica Braun as the pair locked up Ball State's first point of the match after beating Patricia Panta and Laura Morera by a score of 6-3.
The Cardinals carried their momentum into singles, quickly setting the tone behind Braun who exited the court quickly with a 6-2, 6-0 take down against Julia Kuszynski on court three. Elena Malykh pushed BSU's lead to 3-0 after earning a 7-5, 6-3 decision versus Eileen Carney at position No. 6.
After that, four courts remained, and Toledo would earn its lone point of the match after taking the top court from Ball State. Amy Kaplan was able to earn the fourth point to give the Cardinals the win today. Kaplan beat Shalini Tallamraju in a three-set thriller at the No. 4 slot, 6-4, 4-6, 6-1.
Other winners today were Polishchuk on court two and Hannah Davies at the No. 5 position.
